iBass Magazine

This is the front cover of my magazine iBass, It is an image which represents the audience of this magazine and will give a good reflection to the public. It will also cath the eye of passers by because of the bright colour and originality of the star and the magazine. The Front cover consists of

• Masthead
• Slogon
• Exclusive interview ad
• Main Stories inside the magazine
• Spitman in print 'to let people know this is him'
• Image of artist
• Price
• Barcode

These are multiple key parts that a front cover must have.

This is the contents page of my magazine which i renamed the stuffing. I did this because the stuffing is the filler of something. And this is thepage which gives the information on what is inside the magazine. The stuffing give you the main pages of interest in the magazine if you want to skip through to something you want to read. I was pleased at the way i layed out the information and title on this page and included a suitable photo in the corner.





This is the double page spread this offers Spitman's inside story, finding out what he does where hes been and what hes been up to. There are sections within this DPS which helps us discover what he is really like.

I have split it into an interview type section on the introducing page and then on the following page i have included a section callled 21questions which would be a feature throughout all of the magazines iBass produce. This feature asks 21 questions about the artist which they answer, a selection are choice questions to see who you best relate to. The interview section is just to be able to get to know the artist in more depth than the reader should already know. I was pleased with how I layed out the text imcomparison to the images and got a good over look of the artist and imported pictures which go well because the artist is looking at the text and at the end he is laying down which also has a strong colleration with saying the end.

Major Influences

My images and character that i used for my magazine was inspired through tinie tempah. This is because he is a huge inspiration from how you can just come from the streets to make it big! Tinie or Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu as his birth name was brought onto the scene in 2006. He gained a great deal of airplay on British music TV channel, Channel U, for his song 'Wifey Riddim' and then in late 2007, Tinie Tempah collaborated on a track with grime artists Agent X and Ultra. The song was titled "Perfect GCD Hood Economics Room 147". He toured with Chipmunk in February 2010. He then went on to release his debut album, Disc-Overy, debuted at number one on 10 October 2010 and was preceded by the number-one singles "Pass Out" and "Written in the Stars" and the top-five singles "Frisky" and "Miami 2 Ibiza". Tinie Tempah then went on to win two brit awards in January 2011 for Best Break through act and Best Single with the famous "Pass Out"

The website which influenced me most to do grime was Grime Daily. This website consists of all the latest grime vidoe's releases, news etc. and if i was to produce a whole magazine i would use this website for all departments ★★★★★ raiting.

Grime daily has all the leading and upcoming grime artists and all the latest clobber such as hoodys, jewellery etc. Overall the website is outstanding and has something to offer from every department.

Does your production actually look like sample pages from a teenage magazine?
My magazine iBass looks exactly what you would see in the shops next to top teen music magazines. iBass has a certain futuristic look given to it due to the neon colours and style given to it. As you look through the sample pages you will find them to be slightly different from what you would normally expect in a normal magazine but that is what gives it its originality. Colours that are used are basic stereotypical colours but giving them a neon effect brings a new view to the whole page. Also the Image on the Cover Page is of a young person to show who and what kind of person that the magazine is aimed at.
How would the subject matter appeal to your target audience?
iBass appeals to my target audience because it offers everything! from posters to exclusive interviews with the stars and newcomers from the grime genre. You can tell who should by it by the image of the artist on the cover page and the layout and text.
Analysis of Cover Page
My cover page consists of an eye catchy Masthead which has a neon blue effect to stand out from the others and just below it has a sticker type print on which instantly tells the reader or consumer what feature the magazine has to offer. In this case mine offers a poster of a well known artist 'Scorcher'. Then in the middle of my page i have my model 'Spit Man'. This is who the interview is of on the Double Page spread.
Analysis of Double Page Spread
My Double Page Spread has a very clear yet original style layout. I used the name of the artist and used a graffiti type font to a set colour scheme which I used throughout the two pages. The two pages consist of photo's of the artist 'Spit Man'  and questions about him. I think I set out the the wording well and in appropriate places.
Analysis of Contents Page
My contents page otherwise known as ' The Stuffing' is a very contrasting page to advertise what is in the magazine and on what pages. I chose to rename it and call it the stuffing because its a filler and its the filler of information and shows what the magazine has to offer. The magazine offers many of pages on exciting topics. The layout of the contents page is basic but effective. The numbers of the main pages are made bolder and bigger so they can skip to them pages easier.
Analysis of Images 
My model used different poses and positions to make the photo fit the magazine. The images were put there to represent and reflect on stereotypes from that scene (this scene being grime). The poses my model performed were ones as such you would see in typical grime music videos and night clubs.
The front cover image is one to show who is in power now and look how ive made it. This gives the reader a glimpse of that if you follow your dreams and work hard you will achieve. The image also reflects on the clothes and labels he is wearing. Most of us know the big named brands such as Ralph Lauren, Lyle and Scott etc. and expect to see this on our idols so we go and purchase similar items.
The inside images reflect on the writing involved. The shoot was to make it look like he as the model was looking at the writing from all angles. Then towards the end on the 2nd page of the DPS there is a more relaxed image which reflects on after reading all of that you take a break. The image on the contents page is to reflect stardom and fame. The image shows the singer on the edge of the stage making it clear that he was recieving applause.
What Improvements might I have made
I have improved my magazine by changing the layout to a more suitable one which makes it easier to read and understand. I also improved on the colours i used i began with the basics and then thought about how vibrant colours are making their way into the grime scene such as purples and greens.

Images

For the images i used i took photos of a friend called Marcus Campbell from Manshead Upper School as my original 'model' Bay Fasida could not make it. The images are supposed to represent the social group of people that would want to read this magazine. I have done this by using the clothes he wears and they style he wears them.  Also the attitude of the photo's give that 'rude' look which most young people seem to think they have today. 

To look at how i was present my magazine i used powerpoint to pick out colours and styles to make it look more appropriate and to the set genre.

I chose the style for the logo because it stands out and seems appropriate to the word iBass to have contrasting colours which is bold and powerful like a speaker.

I also made an exclusive sticker that was advertising that there was a scorcher poster inside which i have also used vibrant colours for to help it stand out from the background and front cover image.

On my contents page i used neon numbers to stand out from the black background to help the reader find what they want to read easier.
